Norwich Northern Distributor Road given green light

Ifield Estates is delighted the Secretary of State has given the go ahead for the Norwich Northern Distributor Road. The first stage around Ifield Estate’s Broadland Gate scheme is nearing completion and the remainder will commence early 2016 with an anticipated completion 2017.

Cross link completed

The main cross link is now finished and the route to the A47. The Hub works continue to be on schedule for completion this Autumn. It is exciting to see the finished roads which now show how prominent Ifield Estates' Broadland Gate site will be.

What impact will the Northern Distributor Road have on Norwich business?

Will it cost businesses to build it?

The government has agreed to contribute £86.5m towards the scheme. Norfolk County Council and developer contributions will be needed to cover the final £60m. Tom McCabe, director of environment, transport and development at County Hall said some £40m was anticipated to come from the community infrastructure levy pooled by Norwich, Broadland and South Norfolk Council. The final £20m will be covered mainly by a pot of capital receipts built up by the authority.

Hub works progressing

‘The Postwick Hub works on site are on schedule for their completion this Autumn. The main cross-link is advanced and works are underway on the eastern road which will form the new carriageway from the A47’. It is really apparent just how easy it is going to be to access the Ifield Estates site (Broadland Gate).
